The MAGE General Council - What is it? What do I need to know?MAGE General Council – What is it? What do I need to know?
The MAGE General Council is our biennial meeting where members meet to elect officers, get information and vote on policy. If you would like to attend the MAGE General Council on May 19, 2018 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing please contact your District officer or the MAGE office at 1-800-477-6243. If you have any questions about this meeting please give us a call.
The deadline for the District officers to turn in the list of delegates and alternates is March 15. If you are interested in participating as a delegate or alternate, you must make your wishes known before that date. This is also the date that nomination applications must be turned in, if you would like to run for a seat on the Board of Directors and the date to turn in resolutions to change MAGE policies or the Constitution and Bylaws.
Every member belongs to a MAGE District. District officers must hold a meeting in your District area before March 15. Please watch your mail and email for notices about those meetings. These meetings are where the Delegates and Alternates are elected to attend the General Council. You may be elected, even if you cannot attend the District meeting, but you need to contact your District officer to let them know you are interested.
If you are not elected to a delegate or alternate position, you may still attend the meeting. Any member may attend, but reservations are required. Please contact the MAGE office if you would like to attend to reserve your spot at least 2 weeks prior to the meeting.
Various speakers including some of the candidates for governor are expected to speak at the meeting in addition to our lobbyist from Capitol Services who will discuss legislation of interest to our members.
This is a great chance for you to attend, meet your fellow MAGE members, staff and Board members and see what MAGE does for you on a daily basis. There are door prizes and lots of interesting people to meet. Please save the May 19 date for MAGE!
